Eisai Co., Ltd. entered the Chinese market in the early 1990s. In 1991, it established Shenyang Eisai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Shenyang, followed by Eisai (Suzhou) Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. in Suzhou in 1996, The Suzhou entity was officially upgraded to Eisai China Inc. in 2002. With the expansion of its business in China, Eisai has built a management framework centered on Eisai China for capital and administrative control, Supported by Eisai Pharma, Eisai Liaoning, Eisai Trading, Eisai Hong Kong, and Eisai Chuangtuo. It has also invested to set up the joint venture, Jingyi Weixiang.
Eisai has a total registered capital of 108.54 million US dollars in China. Headquartered in Shanghai, the company has nearly 2,000 employees. It runs production bases in Suzhou and Benxi, with business coverage across Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau. Focusing on key fields including neuroscience, oncology specialty drugs, gastroenterology and metabolism, while also expanding into generic medicines and internet-based healthcare, Eisai China has launched more than 20 pharmaceutical products in China. This year, Leqembi® subcutaneous injection and anti-diarrheal product Lactoral® will be launched in China, further enriching its product portfolio.
